Things Heat up at Tornado’s 2006 Chili Cook-off

Cleveland, OH, February 22, 2006 -- Old man winter was no match for the heat generated by this years chili contest entries at Tornado’s 2006 Chili Cook-off. The event has now become an annual event at Tornado, and a very competitive one to boot. In addition to chili, employees, vendors, clients, and guests with treated to jalapeño poppers, cornbread, chips, soda, cheese, crackers, and cookies.

“HOT!” was the best word to describe the chili entries submitted this year. Although not all of the entries were spicy, the majority of the entries were definitely not for the faint of heart when it comes to spicy taste buds. Many of the contest judges had to increase their fluid intake and wipe the sweat from their brows after tasting some of the entries. Of the 7 entries submitted in this year’s contest, the winner of the best tasting chili was Tom Loya.

1st Place: Tom Loya
2nd Place: Kevin Halberg
3rd Place: Kurt Metzler

The prizes for winning first, second, and third were gas cards for the Get Go with the values of $50 for first, $25 for second, and $20 for third. Tom will also get his name added to the chili trophy, have it in his possession for the year, and the best prize of all, bragging rights for the year!
